Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) has been integral to supporting families – providing critical food and hope to neighbors in need. With the health and well-being of our team members and the community as our top priority and as we continue to work remotely, the team at Toyota Industries Commercial Finance (TICF) sought ways to interact with and continue to support its community partners.

TICF has an established partnership with NTFB, delivering kitted meals, working at the warehouse sorting and packing food items, collecting canned food items and peanut butter, and providing financial support over the years. The TICF team delivered nearly 650 cards to the NTFB as part of the non-profit’s Cards for Hope program.

Established to provide warm wishes and smiles, many of these cards feature food imagery and puns:

• Avo’ good day (avocado)
• I ap-peach-iate you! (peach)
• Grapeful (grape or grapefruit)
• You are egg’cellent (eggs)

Nearly 30 TICF associates volunteered virtually, independently and through group working sessions (via video conference), to cook up creative cards with messages of cheer and compassion. Feedback from team members about the activity included:

The impacts and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic that began in 2020 will continue to affect the economic and hunger landscape in 2021 and beyond. Giving back to the communities in which our TICF team members live, and work is a central tenant of our company culture. Toyota’s founding principle —the reason we exist—is to contribute to society. The Cards for Hope program helps the North Texas Food Bank deliver more than just nutrition with each meal kit.
